15 MARCH 2025: The Colleton County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution presented its Good Citizenship Awards to two Colleton County Students. The awards went to Jamille Collins and Anne Hatcher White.

Collins is the son of Alice Collins and Kevin Simmons. He is a dual-enrollment student at the Thunderbolt Career and Technology Center, a member of Future Farmers of America, and volunteers in the Colleton County High School Guidance Office. He also volunteers for the Special Olympics and is a member of the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office Cadet Program. Collins plans to attend Spartanburg Methodist College, major in criminal justice, and hopes to return to Colleton County as a Law Enforcement Officer.

Anne Hatcher White attends Colleton Prep and is the daughter of Josh and Rebekah White. She is an officer in the National Honor Society, a delegate to Palmetto Girls State, and a multisport athlete participating in tennis, cheer, basketball, and soccer. She is also the President of the Student Body and President of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. White is also a Rice Festival Rice Planter, a First Steps volunteer, and a volunteer for the 1st Baptist Church Vacation Bible School. She plans to attend Clemson University, where she will major in marketing.

18 September 2024: The Colonel Joseph Glover Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution of Walterboro presented a National DAR Distinguished Citizen Medal to Philip Stanley Sr. of Varnville at its Sept. 18 meeting.

Stanley was the guest speaker at the meeting, sharing his Vietnam War experiences. Following his remarks, Chapter Regent Jan Ulmer and South Carolina DAR State Regent Alice Lamb Caskey presented Stanley with the Medal.

15 May 2024: Dr. Sarah Miller received the DAR National Excellence in Historic Preservation Medal during a luncheon hosted by the Colonel Joseph Glover Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.  The award recognizes a person who has done extraordinary work over a long period in establishing a historic district, preserving a local landmark, restoring or preserving objects of historic cultural significance, or establishing or participating in oral history projects, youth leadership, and education at the regional, state, and/or national level.  Additionally, Bill Young, Mayor of Walterboro, proclaimed May 15 as Dr. Sarah Miller Day and presented her with a resolution from the City of Walterboro commending her on receiving this honor.
